Beginners - tribal basics -
This is where our journey begins, basics is full of confidence building routines in a supportive & encouraging atmosphere where special attention is given to personal learning. Here we will be concentrating on dance posture & basic foundation movements using both slow movements & fast steps - Learn the basics by drilling simple yet creative
combinations - you'll be dancing in your first class! Thorough breakdown of foundation movements, history & information on costuming is included in handouts throughout basics level 1 & 2.
Beginner level 2 - tribal basics 2
Once familiar & confident with the basic foundations it's time to move on to level 2 where we will refine technique, add variations, embellishments & focus on our improvisation skills, group dancing, formations, chorus lines & how to simply piece steps together for a smooth transition.
Intermediates 1 & 2
Building on the basics of level 2, incorporating new combinations, movements and gestures. Props will also be incorporated in level 2.
Performance Prep
You must be attending our intermediate class to join our performance prep where we will be focussing on skills for stage & public performances, this time can also be used as rehearsal time for upcoming shows.
Advanced Performance Prep
Strictly invite only. While fusing together several diffent elements and dance forms yet keeping a strong tribal tribal influence.
Little Nomads
With an emphasis on building self esteem & confidence, this is a class full of fun, teaching the basics in a simplified way with a focus enjoyment & friendship. Short combinations & choreographs will help our little nomads become confident with steps & gestures. For ages 5 - 13
Zil Drills
Zils or finger cymbals are a must for the tribal dancer & add an exciting element to our dance. Although sometimes difficult to master, the key to success is repartition. We will explain how to fit and wear your zils, the best zils for comfort & ease, basic rhythms, and adding zils to your dance through simple drills. We encourage all levels to attend these classes & feel that it is important to begin ziling with your dance ASAP. Classes include handouts. Don't forget to bring your zils, they can be purchased at nomadic passions if you do not have a set. No charge for those attending any of our dance classes.
Drum Jam!
Our drum jam sessions are for those who attended our darabukka workshop with Anita Larkin, come have a jam & familiarise the rhythms to prepare for the next workshop. No charge for those attending our drum workshops with Anita.
